The Giant Snow Penis

Kids make snowmen, adults make snow penises. I am an adult, so that is what i made along with Scott McCarthy. The location of our construction was the St Johns Park tennis courts in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.
It’s amazing that other people didn’t think of entering the tennis courts to use the snow. We didn’t actually venture out until over 24 hours since the downfall so it made it even more surprising that the tennis courts were untouched, perhaps that says alot about the intelligence of the local residents?

In the following video, we reveal our creation.

One Hundred Days To Make Me A Better Person

Last week on Absolute Radio, comedian Joise Long rocked up late onto the Iain Lee show to briefly talk about a project that she is spearheading called ‘One Hundred Days To Make Me A Better Person

In a nutshell, people have to pledge to do things for 100 days that will end up making them better people.
Pledges have ranged from writing a book, drawing a daily picture, talking to strangers, learning to knit.
I’m sure you get the idea by now.

I decided that it would be rather fun to take part in this event. Now, I’m interested in the whole ‘Make Me A Better Person’ idea, and so I thought about how I can become a better person in 100 days, after a bit of thought, I came up with the answer — The Thundercats!

Yes, as a child, I learnt my morals from children’s television, this was back in the 80’s where the cartoons on offer were chocked full of messages on how to be a good person.

Throughout my youth, I was rarely in trouble at school, and never had a detention, so programmes like Thundercats must have been responsible for my good behaviour, right?

So, my hundred day pledge is to watch all 128 episodes of the Thundercats, and to report back on my blog and via podcast all the things I have learnt from each episode.  Not only will this make me into a better person again, but it will also make readers and listeners to my venture also become better people. What a service I am providing!

What is most exciting about watching all of the Thundercats’ episodes is that only season 1 was shown on UK television, so I have 64 new episodes to look forward to! Also, 128 doesn’t fit inside the 100 day duration, so on some days I will have to watch TWO episodes, it’s a tough task, but that’s the lengths I will go to in order to help you and me to become better people.

The complete Thundercats DVD collection that I will be watching over the next 100 days. Currently all the DVD are still shrink-wrapped, that's how new they are!

Simon Cowell RAPES Lucie Jones

Somebody call the police, Simon Cowell has metaphorically RAPED Lucie Jones, and after what he’s done to her tonight, he may as well rape her sexually too.

For weeks Simon has bashed the Irish twins John and Edward, A.KA. Jedward. Tonight was his chance to bring the focus of the X Factor programme back to that of singing ability. Simon had previously labeled the public support for John and Edward as a sick joke and vowed to quit the country if they were to win the show. With his actions tonight, he’s actually taken them one step closer to winning.

Welsh sweetheart Lucie Jones, like the twins, found herself in the bottom two for the first time in the series.
You could forgive her for feeling confident of progressing given the judges comments of her rivals.
Leading two votes to one, Simon could have chosen to save Lucie in a three - one victory, shockingly however, he chose to save the twins and it went to the public vote to see who would make the final 6.

Unsurprisingly, the twins had polled the most votes, and Lucie was cruely eliminated.

Simon’s reasoning for sending the vote to lockdown was because in his mind, he thought both contestants would not be good enough to win the competition, and would rather watch John and Edward perform again and not Lucie. What a bloody hypocrite! Weeks of bitching and moaning about the twins, and then he goes and gives them a lifeline. Its clear now that Simon doesn’t actually care about the Twins lack of singing talent and kept them in for the column inches that both himself and the twins will enjoy this week.

In my opinion, Lucie is a VERY good singer, and has a superior voice to fellow female vocalist Stacey Solomon. Stacey is merely popular as she is a ditzy girl living on another planet! Last years winner Alexandra Burke wasn’t too popular in the early weeks, but built momentum and support as the show progressed, whats to say the same wouldn’t have happened with Lucie?

I felt compelled to watch the Xtra Factor on ITV2 immediately following the main show. On it, Simon said, regarding the result “It’s not life and death” For Lucie Jones, this show was the chance for her to have the life she wanted, a chance to be a recording artist.

I can’t finish my blog post without metioning my lovely Dannii Minogue. It looks like she needs another hug. Clearly she was unhappy with Simon’s decision, but had to bite her tounge. If she had let rip, Simon would have made sure she never appears on another series, afterall, he is the boss. The best Dannii could offer was “Everyone should forget about singing next week and just do rapping” John and Edward *sung* Robbie Williams’ hit ‘Rock DJ’ in the sing-off.

What a farce. I am so angry, the only thing that can even remotely cheer me up is The Retarded Policeman

Nick Griffin on Question Time - Cassetteboy Edit

I first knew of the YouTube user Cassetteboy when he made a 6 minute long video of Alan Suger from the Apprentice saying the word ‘Bloody’ lots of times. 4 months later and he’s at it again, this time he has cleverly edited the appearance of BNP leader Nick Griffin on Question Time. Cassettboy’s version shows the kind of comments you’d be likely to hear coming out of Nick Griffin’s mouth when not on national TV with an audience of 8 million.

Xbox 360 Rock Band Drums and Game for £18.38

Amazon.co.uk are currently selling the Xbox 360 drums for £16.99.  Additionally, they are selling the Rock Band 1 software for £16.39. There is a promotional offer available where by if you purchase both items together, you get a £15 discount. Clearly this ‘offer’ had been in place when at least one of the items was being sold for full price, through intrigue I thought I’d see if the discount would work with the cheaper prices.
Anyway, I added the items to my shopping basket, and the total was showing up as £33.38. I entered my payment details and went through to the confirmation screen. Sure enough, the final total was £18.38.

If you have an Xbox and don’t yet own any Drums for your rhythm based games, then now is the time to snap up a set and have a copy of the Rock Band 1 game for essentially £1.99 extra!

Dannii Minogue Needs A Hug

dannii minogue criesI was watching the X Factor tonight where the final 50 were chopped down to 24. Hopeful contender Dominic Harris had been mentored by Dannii two years ago before being dumped by her just before the live TV stages. He was back at the audition stage for this series and was getting lots of TV time as the show focused on the improvement he’d made since the last time he auditioned. The guy seemed to be a certainty to make the final 24, Dannii was championing his cause, desperate for him to make it second time round. Shockingly, when it came to making the decision, Dominic was cut loose. Both he and Dannii were reduced to tears, Miss Minogue was in a terrible state, I felt so sorry for her. I wish I had been at the O2 arena to give her a big hug. Dannii is an angel. I’ll have to audition in 2010 so that I may have a chance of meeting her. If I were to get to sing in front of the judges, I’d sing ‘I should be so lucky in love’ which of course is a song by her less successful sister Kylie. I’d pretend to forget the words, break down on the stage and cry, Dannii will feel sorry for me, and come on stage and give me a big hug, of course I’d wink at the camera and be hailed a Legend by the TV audience for being so clever.

Tonight I shall be dreaming of Dannii.

Premier League Football Podcasts

As well as doing the Totally Chappers Podcast I also produce the Brighton and Hove Albion ‘Albion Moan-In’ show for http://www.wearebrighton.com I was curious to see how many other live webcasts for football clubs were being produced, so I spent a great deal of time researching the offerings for every Football League Club in England, that’s 92 in total.

I was surprised to discover that the Albion Moan-In seems to be the only live ‘internet only’ show. Considering the relative ease at which you can setup a webcast, the ready-made talking points, a niche subject with thousands of potential listeners, and a chance for contributors to come on and express their views freely in a way that 606 and Talksport don’t allow, it really should be an avenue of broadcasting that football fans should be looking to exploit. Maybe I’m just ahead of the pack? somewhat of a pioneer perhaps. As ever, time will tell.

Anyway, I now have a huge list of football podcasts, so I thought i’d best put my research to good use by publishing my findings online in the form of a Football podcast directory. I’m starting with Premier League Podcasts that you can find listed on my other website socceramworld.com .
Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham are leading the way in the number of podcasts dedicated to them, Hull City however have none!

1 vs 100: How To Get In The Mob

It’s a question asked often, but rarely answered - just how do you get to be in the mob on the Xbox 360 1 vs 100 live game?

The offical line is that you have to play often, answer correctly and quickly.
People on forums have been complaining that they play many of the extened game sessions and still don’t get picked for the mob.

I subscribed to the offical line, and for the first few weeks I played 4 or 5 extended play games each week, hoping it would put me up the pecking order when it came to choosing the mob and ‘the one’.
Sadly, I was never selected, So I gave up with extended play and just played the 19:30-21:30 prime time game for prizes on Friday and Saturday nights, hoping that lady luck would smile upon me.
She didn’t! I had to win the hard way. On Saturday August 8th, I beat 15,000 other players to be the games highest scorer and I won the xbox live arcade game Carcassonne (I’m still waiting for the email with the download code)

Winning from the audience was rather satisfying, but I still wanted to get in the mob. What was the magic formula? Well my readers, I think I have cracked it!

Step One - Play 1 vs 100 extended play at either 18:30 or 19:00 directly before the live for prizes show.
Step Two - Do not obsess over getting a high score. If you know the answer to a question, answer it quickly. If a question comes up that you know you won’t know the answer, just bash any button with lightening speed. Do not waste time mulling over an answer.
Step Three - The crucial step, ensure that your average answer time is below 0.75 seconds. You can check the in-game stats to monitor this, and really up your speed if needed.
Step Four - Participate in the live for prizes game and await to be put in the mob!

I have followed this process for the last two weeks, I’ve been in the mob twice. I also had two friends test out my theory and they also made it into the mob. They both had previously played lots of extended play like myself and never made it into the mob.

The final set of live for prizes games are on the 28th and 29th of August, if you become ‘The One’ you have a chance to defeat the 100 strong mob and win a Fiat 500 car!

Give my theory a try and let me know if it works for you. This time next week you could be the owner of a new car.
